The FCC is back in business with Olivia Trusty being sworn in, giving the agency its necessary three-commissioner quorum as well as a 2-1 Republican majority ahead of Thursday’s open meeting. On deck for Trusty’s debut is a proposal to simplify cable rate regulations and an item on relaxing the engineer certification requirements for biannual Broadband Data Collection filings. Beyond the meeting, the FCC’s Media Bureau released a public notice centered on broadcast ownership rules, and questions continue to swirl regarding who’ll fill the seats of Geoffrey Starks and Nathan Simington.
