D.C.’s never-ending regulatory rollercoaster hit a couple of corkscrews last week. As Commerce Secretary nominee Howard Lutnick took the hot seat for his hearing, folks were trying to grasp an OMB memo that temporarily froze federal grant programs while they were being reviewed. However, a federal judge has since stepped in and issued a temporary restraining order halting the administration’s ability to freeze funding for federal grants and other programs. Trump has also received pushback regarding tariffs on imports from Canada, China and Mexico, sparking retaliation from both governments and companies based in those countries.
