Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery certainly stole the show last week after announcing a sports streaming joint venture. It’s sparked an array of questions ranging from who will head up the service to when it’ll be rolled out to the public. One talking point was the impact it’ll have on ESPN’s plan to launch a standalone DTC product, but Disney CEO Bob Iger reiterated a launch date potentially as early as August 2025. It’s sure to impact the finances of many companies, just like how NTIA’s BEAD program is beginning to affect small operators and whether or not the free funding is worth the cost to participate.
