The Skinny

The first state to get NTIA’s approval on its initial BEAD proposal has been chosen: Louisiana. The Bayou State is now able to transition to the program’s implementation phase and can request access to its allotment of over $1.355 billion in funding. It’s another step in the BEAD process, and elsewhere in D.C. the FCC took a step of its own when it voted to approve an NPRM that proposes to block cable and DBS video service providers from imposing early termination fees. The Commission also voted to reform its existing pole attachment rules in an effort to resolve disputes faster.
