The term “churn” often carries a negative connotation, but there are positive indicators that can derive from the specific subset of viewers. The strategy and consulting firm Magid said good churn can come from “hypers” or those who bounce around from service to service, which also serves as an indicator of which platform has the best current content. The FCC also indicated it’s looking at updating its broadband speed benchmark of 25/3 Mbps and more. Some warned a change could lead to misallocations of capital, while others claim a new reliance on broadband has fueled fundamental changes.
