Industry stakeholders had a chance to voice their concerns with the FCC’s dealings at last week’s “People’s Oversight Hearing” hosted by Public Knowledge. Former FCC Chair Tom Wheeler, AAPB Executive Director (and former FCC nominee) Gigi Sohn and others didn’t hold back with their critiques, specifically noting the ambiguity of how the agency uses the public interest standard and whether it has authority to act on things such as the 39% national ownership cap. Meanwhile, CTAM is taking action against the rise of online fraud—especially as perpetrators utilize AI more often to deceive consumers.
