The Skinny

Diversity Week 2023 is officially underway. The WICT Network began its Leadership Conference on Monday with much of the discussion centered on how to embrace uncertainty in the media industry amid massive changes. Those changes include the landscape of distribution deals between programmers and distributors, which took a particular focus recently with the Charter-Disney blackout. One company learning to navigate the broadcast side of retransmission consent waters is INSP. After being unable to strike a retrans renewal with Comcast for its newly acquired broadcast stations, Comcast began moving INSP to a lesser-penetrated tier, which INSP claims shows “market dysfunction” within the media ecosystem.
