As we draw closer to SCTE's hybrid Cable-Tec Expo, Cablefax will highlight important tech stories in this eletter, making sure you're in the know when you tune in to the show.

The world can be a scary place, and cyberattacks are becoming more prevalent than ever before. Ranging in types and scales, bad actors are constantly searching for vulnerabilities in the networks of the world’s largest technology companies and providers. Once they’re in, they could take everything from customer data to trade secrets. The best offense against these threats is a good defense. Discussions on the future of cyber threats and practices for proactively protecting customers will be at the center of a number of panels and workshops scheduled for Wednesday, October 13.

CableLabs will kick things off at 8am with the “Hostile Traffic Mitigation: Protecting Your Customers” workshop. Akamai’s Bruce Van Nice will offer up a summary of today’s threat landscape with data from the FBI’s 2020 Internet Crime Report. CableLabs principal architect Randy Levensalor will bring things home with a discussion on Transparent Security, a method for combatting DDOS attacks.

At 9:30am, Cox svp/CISO Kim Keever will be joined by Comcast vp, security architecture, identity and access Nancy Davoust for the “Beating the Bad Actors: Leading Security Through the Evolving Threat” to discuss best practices in creating a strategy that ensures users, devices and applications are securely working together. Casandra Bowes, a program manager at Comcast, will join the talk later to lay out how operators can establish accurate and transparent cyber risk ratings.

If you can't make it to every session, Cablefax will have you covered with our Expo Show Daily. We look forward to seeing you all there!
