As we draw closer to SCTE's virtual Cable-Tec Expo, Cablefax will highlight important tech stories in this eletter, making sure you're in the know when you tune in to the show

Broadband providers were immediately impacted by the lockdowns put in place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. They remained agile, putting in long nights to ensure there was enough capacity on the network to handle both surges in traffic and massive shifts in typical consumer behavior. Now that the worst of it is behind them, it's time to think about next steps. How can providers continue to increase capacity on their networks, and are there more efficient ways to handle what they're already seeing?

Conversations around how advanced analytics and broadband network operations can come together for the benefit of companies and customers will be at the center of a three-part workshop series. The second session of that workshop series, "Advanced Tools for Plant-wide Data," will be held October 12 at 8:30am and address the different ways in which artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation are being put to work today. Those taking part in the panel include Cox Communications vice president, analytics Christian Welin; CommScope distinguished system engineer, broadband networks David Virag; Ciena director, AI and analytics Petar Djukic and Blue Planet director, enterprise architect Salvatore Torrente.

That discussion will continue on October 13 at 3pm at the "What's Next for Cable Broadband Tech" session. Senior cable technologists will come together on the Innovation Theater stage to sort through the various next-gen technologies that could make a difference and what challenges must be overcome before operators can realize their promise.

If you can't make it to every session, Cablefax will have you covered with our Expo Show Daily. We look forward to seeing you all there!
