It is not easy launching a series during the pandemic, but WarnerMedia succeeded. It had been teasing the sci fi show since Comic-Con 2019, but its world premiere at SXSW was scuttled due to COVID-19. The team pivoted by moving the series premiere up two weeks and found ways to secure press, even if it meant virtual talk show appearances and a remote satellite media tour. TNT even kept its media event, turning it into a livestream with an interactive afterparty. It snagged 585 attendees with an 88% retention rate. The hard work paid off with Snowpiercer debuting as the No. 1 new cable entertainment program.
