It’s not easy weaving together the stories of military families coping with long tours of duties for their loved ones with the in-the-trenches peril that they face as they try to survive a war whose purpose continues to blur. But Mikko Alanne’s deft showrunning skills guided this wonderful company of actors, set designers, location scouts, costume designers and so many other elements into a cohesive storyline that melded both worlds perfectly. It’s a poignant examination of war, its aftermath and the “long road” to find yourself amid the madness of conflict.
