After he took a leading role in business development and sales for North America at just 23, Behjat definitely became a person to watch. Not satisfied just with coming up with unique solutions to drive sale success, Behjat also asked to be involved in the hiring process and has been an integral part of training new employees. When Cisco’s flagship video system was struggling to gain traction in smaller markets, Behjat put together detailed playbooks and found a solution. “I love to solve complex problems. This is a fast paced industry that is going through major shifts and innovations, and being at a company that is at the forefront of guiding others through these changes is exciting and challenging,” he says.

What attracted you to this industry?
I love to solve complex problems. This is a fast paced industry that is going through major shifts and innovations, and being at a company that is at the forefront of guiding others through these changes is exciting and challenging. I have been fortunate enough to help guide companies, from the executive suite to the engineering team to revolutionize their technology philosophies and business strategies. I think having that type of opportunity at an earlier stage in my career is unique to the space we are in so I am happy I chose this industry.

Best piece of professional advice you’ve received?
Be interested, not interesting. We often try very hard to “impress” people with the knowledge we have but we seldom take the time to step back and get to know the people we are talking too. When you take a vested interest in the people and organizations you are dealing with, you not only learn more but you earn trust and deliver a more relevant message. This is something I try to embody whether I am leading a team, working with customers or even in my personal life.

How do you give back to your community?

I’m passionate about kids and education. I spend my time trying to get more involved with programs that help minority and underprivileged kids with educational programs and after school activities, be it through music, sports, academics, or life coaching.
