Today, Boingo’s military services cover 55 military bases, including some of the nation’s largest such as Camp Pendleton and Camp Lejeune. And product packages offer blazing fast Wi-Fi with speeds up to 30 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, as well as “skinny bundles” of live TV. Meanwhile, Boingo manages to engineer all of this despite massive interference from unpredictable elements such as moving military equipment (including tanks and other artillery), radar, extreme weather and power outages common on many bases. To cover a base completely, the company uses an intensive network of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio bridges, and builds in network redundancies to ensure reliable connectivity.
