Infonetics Research is on a roll, saying North America is the global home-networking leader, thanks to MoCA, with a 37-percent marketshare of all home-networked devices last year. Global sales of home networking devices grew 20 percent in 2011 from 2010, to $7.98 billion, and some $43 billion will be spent on home networking devices from now to 2016. MoCA embedded STBs, FTTB ONTs, coax-Ethernet adapters and Wi-Fi broadband routers are driving growth in home-networking-device market. The group also says cable still is the king of pay-TV, but satellite and IPTV are poised for a takeover. Comcast is the global pay-TV subscriber leader, with more than 22 million subscribers in 2011, but DirecTV has the highest ARPU…London-based Ovum expects 25 percent of all LTE connections will include LTE TDD by 2016. "The biggest market opportunities for LTE TDD will come from its deployment to support mobile broadband services," says Principal Analyst Daryl Schoolar. "Other opportunities will include its use as a fixed wireless broadband network and for small cell backhaul. Moreover, LTE TDD provides cost benefits due to the price of unpaired spectrum, which can be passed on to end users." The infrastructure, device and chipset communities support LTE TDD…On the wireline side, expect moderate growth between now and 2017, reaching some $673 billion. Consultant/market researcher notes the wireline market witnessed slow growth during the last five years due to reduced usage and consumer switchover to wireless and VoIP.
