New Stuff 07/03/12

CenturyLink’s Network Event Management Center (NEMC) has earned TL 9000 certification under the product categories 7.3.2 Network Operations Center (NOC) and 7.9 General Support Services (GSS), making it one of the first major carriers in North America and only one of six companies in the world to receive such vetting. Specific areas of certification include network event management, change management, root-cause analysis and reason for outage…U.K.-based NUGEN Audio bolstered its LM-Correct loudness analysis and correction tool for AVID editors; it now can be activated with optional iLok licensing, which allows the software to be used on more than one computer without having to acquire an authorization for each one…Comprion’s over-the-air (OTA) test system simulates complex OTA use cases so that communication errors in this setup are detected before a new service is rolled out. The company says network operators can add or change services (e.g., subscription management, roaming-agreements updates) and apps on the UICC remotely, significant because the UICC reportedly is the only secure element through which the network operator keeps direct contact to the end customer. Tests are developed on a case-by-case basis (end-to-end testing, server tests, card tests, terminal tests)…Video distro provider Rightster launched Rightster Studios to finance original programming, TV shows, and channels online. Rightster, already a YouTube partner, and Rightster Studios will enable independent viral video producers to traditional production houses to large news orgs “to create the next generation of engaging and successful online video programming.” Rightster Studios provides producers with a new financing option, and it works with programmers on strategy and implementation for distribution, marketing and monetization. London is the first office, followed by New York, Singapore and Los Angeles…InfiNet Wireless, a U.K. maker of carrier-grade wireless infrastructure solutions for Fixed Broadband Wireless Access (FBWA) and wireless connectivity, intros Instant Dynamic Frequency Selection (Instant DFS)  as an option for the company’s InfiLINK 2x2 Point-to-Point range of solutions as well as for its InfiMan 2x2 Point-to-Multipoint base stations. This new development is fully compliant with the FCC and ETSI standards, typically deployed for point-to-point connectivity as well as in networks where link stability and reliability are mission-critical. An InfiNet Wireless radio unit enabled with Instant DFS will continuously monitor the available frequency bands, scanning each channel for noise, radar signals and interference sources. The unit’s management software then can switch frequency channels automatically when any interference is detected.
