Antenna maker PCTEL Inc. acquired the remaining interest in PCTEL Secure LLC, its joint venture with Eclipse Design Technologies Inc., for $800,000. Eric Uner, PCTEL Secure’s chief architect, now is a full-time PCTEL employee. PCTEL Secure will maintain its relationships with key contractors and customers. The PCTEL Secure operation reports directly to PCTEL CEO Marty Singer…The Weather Channel Companies (TWCC) will buy Web-based Weather Underground, which provides Web-based weather data, within several weeks. No financial terms were released. Weather Underground’s site and its mobile apps will continue to operate as usual, and its employees are being picked up by the buyer…Schurz Communications Inc. completed its cash-for-stock purchase of Ariz.-based Orbitel Communications. Orbitel serves some 10,000 customers in Maricopa with video, voice and Internet products…The Gores Group says its Small Capitalization Partners fund has completed the acquisition of Chicago-based Glotel from Adecco Group North America, part of the world’s largest recruitment and workforce solutions provider. Glotel offers wireless infrastructure services…Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. will use Windows Azure to manage its Smart TV infrastructure. The company also has begun sampling what it says is the industry’s first 16 GB, double data rate-4 (DDR4), registered dual inline memory modules (RDIMMs), designed for use in enterprise server systems. “Employing new circuit architecture for computing systems, DDR4 technology boasts the highest performance among memory products available for today’s computing systems, which by next year will reach twice the current 1,600 Mbps of DDR3-based modules,” Samsung says.
