— New Cortex clustering software technology from ARRIS Group can be used with the ARRIS ConvergeMedia solution, using the XMS Flex Distribution Platforms with Streaming Media Engine 5.3.1 and Ad Control Manager 3.0 software releases. ARRIS says Cortex lets operators consolidate their ad-insertion infrastructure into centralized systems while cost-effectively growing HD capacity, improving operational efficiency and preserving high run rates. The software supports dynamic content management and load balancing, and it provides hardware failure isolation and automatic recovery from one or more node failures.

Time Warner Cable launched a national campaign to garner new customers, promising a 30-day, money-back guarantee, including a refund on standard installation and monthly service charges if they aren’t completely satisfied. The TV spots feature testimonials from real TWC customers. New subs who sign up for recurring bill pay can lock in a contract-free, two-year, triple-play offer starting at $89.99/month.

— Stealth network-services-virtualization provider Anuta Networks has gone public with its nCloudX platform for delivering on-demand, anytime/anywhere cloud network services. The startup is focusing on delivering network virtualization on multivendor physical and virtual network infrastructures to deliver agile cloud deployments while laying the foundation for SDN. nCloudX reportedly automates the lifecycle of network services in heterogeneous networks, and it helps reduce delivery time from weeks to a few hours for deploying multitenant networks and services.

— This is the year of enterprise strategic services, noted Verizon CFO Fran Shammo during a 4Q12 financials call, and the operator plans to build on the cloud-computing, security and managed-services parts of that business to build on the 5.3-percent 4Q12 growth in that vertical to $2.1 billion. This also translates into 54 percent of Verizon’s global enterprise revenues.
