Ericsson Sells Wireless Patents
Mobile Internet developer Unwired Planet Inc. inked a patent purchase agreement with Ericsson that has the Swedish concern transferring to Unwired Planet more than 2,000 global patents and patent apps that will “significantly broaden” Unwired Planet’s portfolio. The transfer includes 753 U.S. patents related to 2G, 3G and LTE technologies; Ericsson also will contribute 100 additional patent assets annually to Unwired Planet from 2014 through 2018. In return, Unwired Planet grants Ericsson “certain ongoing rights” to some future revenues generated from the enlarged patent portfolio; Ericsson also can license Unwired Planet’s enlarged patent portfolio. Moving forward, Unwired Planet will play an even larger role in mobile data as industry players evaluate future products and services.
TeleTech Buy Adds Anywhere, Anytime Service Provision
Tech-enabled customer-experience solutions provider TeleTech Holdings Inc. recently closed its purchase of Technology Solutions Group Inc., a company focused on designing, delivering and managing multichannel data, telephony and converged IP-based solutions for both large and small businesses. With this acquisition, TeleTech adds a partner that can help it provide one-stop shopping to enterprises and SMBs that want to access services anywhere, any time and on any device.
BTX, ZeeVee Enter Distro Pact
BTX Technologies, a value-added distributor and manufacturer of interface, integration, and system products, now is a distributor for ZeeVee's ZvBox and HDbridge lines of HD encoding/RF modulation products. Allowing as many as 135 simultaneous channels on the same coax cable, ZeeVee's HDbridge and ZvBox digital video distribution products can be used in homes and businesses.
