Alvarion Divests Licensed Gear To Focus On Unlicensed Market
Global telecom-gear provider Telrad Networks is buying Israel-based Alvarion’s carrier licensed division for $6.1 million, and it will retain the related employees. Alvarion also could reap another $6 million in performance-based milestone payments. Alvarion officials say the company now will focus on carrier-grade products that work in unlicensed frequencies. The two also inked a reseller agreement allowing Alvarion to continue to provide carrier licensed solutions to its partners and distributors, while Telrad will sell Alvarion’s unlicensed solutions to its carrier customers after deal closes.
