Tackling Ad Blocking | Leveraging Live Video | Reaching Consumers.

June 14 | 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Edison Ballroom, NYC

The Cablefax Marketing Forum on June 14, is an intensive mid-day event exploring strategies to reach consumers as they increasingly avoid traditional advertising & marketing messages, and rely more heavily on social media and word-of-mouth.

Whether it’s reaching consumers who increasingly skip and block traditional advertising or using new social media tools like Facebook Live and Periscope to cut through the noise, this forum will challenge assumptions and suggest new tactics as programmers and distributors navigate the changing TV ecosystem.

Agenda:

10:45 – 11:15 a.m. – Registration and Networking

11:15 – 12:00 p.m. – Skipping, Blocking and Jumping: How to Reach the Unreachable Consumer

Not only can customers block pre-roll and other ads from digital and mobile environments, but the FCC’s new set-top proposal could even open up a new world of overlays in which third parties obscure or outright block ads already running in the traditional TV space.

And how does all of this affect traditional VOD now that most VOD content providers disable fast-forward functionality? Will consumers learn to accept the ads as a necessary part of the on-demand experience or simply migrate to other platforms where they can still skip them?

In this session we’ll discuss:

  •     How savvy brands, programmers and distributors are finding success in this new era.
  •     The role of social media and earned media as companies forge deeper relationships with customers and viewers.
  •     How changing consumer behavior will change in the future.
  •     How better targeting can improve overall reach.

12:00 – 1:30 p.m. – Brainstormify Lunch

In this unique chance to network with colleagues, share ideas and hone your PR & marketing craft, Cablefax will lay out a challenging scenario that requires immediate crisis management and bold ideas to win back customer trust.

Individual teams will brainstorm solutions over lunch and report back to a panel of judges, who will pick a winning team. But here’s the thing: everyone’s a winner during Brainstormify because participants will share ideas and learn tactics they can apply to any business challenge.

1:30 – 2:15 p.m. – Livewire Act: Navigating Live Video to Reach Consumers

Meerkat. Periscope. And now, Facebook Live. The explosion of live video across digital, mobile and social media has created a huge opportunity for marketers, publicists and communications pros. Consumers are watching and listening—but are your sales, communications and marketing messages making the kind of impact you desire? What’s the secret to gaining maximum mindshare on live platforms? What tactics and strategies will stand the test of time as consumer habits around live media evolve across mobile, digital and traditional platforms.

In this session, you’ll learn:

Which live video platforms work best in particular situations.
How to stand out from the live video crowd?
What companies and brands are best using live video
Ideas for direct and indirect monetization across live video platforms.

2:15 pm  – Closing Remarks
