Smoothing the path to its planned LTE buildout, T-Mobile USA Inc. is “purchasing and exchanging” certain Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum licenses with Verizon in 218 U.S. markets.  T-Mobile get spectrum covering 60 million people in exchange for spectrum covering 22 million people and certain cash consideration. The agreement also includes exchanges in markets where the two will swap licenses to create more contiguous blocks of spectrum and to re-align spectrum in adjacent markets. Some of the frequencies will be part of the license package Verizon wants to buy from  SpectrumCo, Cox and Leap (for more information, click here)…Online video developer Ooyala is in a love/love relationship with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and The Championships at Wimbledon, delivering daily VOD featuring highlights from each day’s Wimbledon matches, interviews and special features, accessible via PC, and iOS and Android devices. Ads will feature sponsors Rolex and Evian within the video player, and the AELTC likes the idea of being able to track/measure viewer engagement across all devices…The Cisco and Citrix Partner Accelerator is a new initiative that reportedly aligns the channel sales and delivery models across the two companies through a single framework to “build partner competencies, elevate partner differentiation and drive partner profitability.” Joint Cisco and Citrix channel partners can use the Partner Accelerator to develop products and services for enterprise mobility, desktop virtualization and device choice by delivering the Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) with Citrix XenDesktop solution. Additional benefits that enhance partner profitability include proof-of-concept and assessment funding along with “unique branding for those partners that complete the required investments”…It’s official: Google wrote the $12.5 billion check for Motorola Mobility’s patents, products and people. Motorola will remain a separate company for now and won’t be integrated into Google anytime soon…Google Offers will provide free Wi-Fi in the Big Apple via Boingo’s hot spots and hot zones starting today and running through Sept. 7…Independent telco Hancock Telephone, serving New York and Pennsylvania, says ADTRAN will provide its next-gen FTTH and Carrier Ethernet over fiber (EoF) solutions for better broadband anywhere, anytime. To support the growth in demand for both its LTE backhaul business with Tier 1 mobile operators and its own broadband service offering, Hancock also will use ADTRAN’s NetVanta 8044M Ethernet Access Gateway and Total Access 5000 FTTH solutions.
