Moloney Leaves Motorola

Motorola announced that Dan Moloney, president of Motorola’s Home business, has decided to leave the company.

He is going to serve as the CEO for an un-named, worldwide producer of electronic components, electrical contacts and assemblies, based in Philadelphia, PA. (Ed note, posted 2/23/10: Maloney will become the new CEO for Technitrol, which makes parts for the wireless, military, automotive and other industries.)

“I would like to thank Dan for his instrumental role in driving forward the decision to combine Motorola’s Mobile Devices and Home businesses,” said Sanjay Jha, co-CEO and CEO of Mobile Devices and Home businesses in a statement.

Greg Brown, co-chief executive officer and CEO of Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Networks businesses pointed to Dan’s leadership in the video, 4G and digital entertainment device categories. (For a recent milestone, click here.)

In his closing statement, Moloney underscored his belief in the value of combining the Mobile Devices and Home units. “I am confident that the combined entity will be uniquely positioned to leverage the growth opportunities arising from the convergence of mobility, media and the Internet.”

Sanjay Jha will continue to lead the previously announced combined Mobile Devices and Home businesses, as well as take the leadership role for the Home business, effective immediately.
