This yearly issue recognizes top cable operators who have distinguished themselves by achieving excellence in technology, operations and Involvement in the community. The issue represents and honors all the independent operators fighting on the front lines, literally rolling up their sleeves to battle rivals that typically offer more product at a lower price. It also salutes the legion of MSOs as they battle the competition in video, voice and Internet access, while also working with content partners to bring customers HD programming and serve their local communities as they address important public affairs issues.

Note: All categories (with the exception of Independent Operator of the Year, Industry Advocate of the Year and Best Strategic Thinking of the Year) have 2 award levels: systems with 250 homes or more; and systems with 249 homes or fewer.

Categories:

• Independent Operator of the Year: In partnership with the American Cable Association and NCTC     The cable operations company that exemplifies excellence throughout its footprint in service, sales, marketing, community service and industry advocacy.

• Best Technology Innovation by an Independent Operator: Awarded to the operator whose customers are benefiting most from the applied use of technology.

• Best Community Service by an Independent Operator: Provide us evidence of your company's best community service work during the past year.

• Best Community Service by an Individual: Tell us about great community service done by one of your employees (or yourself) that reflected well on your company.

• Independent Operator CEO of the Year: We're looking for the most innovative and creative CEO, and those whose customers receive the best service and community service.

• Sales Leader of the Year (Independent Operator): This category is wide open. We're seeking the best sales people in all areas of cable, from local ad sales to sponsorship rights to HD.

• Marketer of the Year (Independent Operator): Your marketing speaks for your company. Tell us about your most creative marketer and how he/she has helped your company's sales.

• Customer Service Innovation of the Year: We want to award systems that did something this year to help improve the customer experience.

• Industry Advocate of the Year: Did an executive or executive team go beyond working for your company and make frequent trips to the state capital and/or Washington, DC, on behalf of cable systems generally? Nominate him, her or them.

• Best Strategic Thinking by an Independent Operator: Difficult times call for strong strategic thinkers by individuals and teams. Did your company and/or its subs benefit from strategic thinking?

The Top Independent Operators issue will reach approximately 75,000 industry executives through print and e-media, including CableFAX Daily and CableFAX Magazine subscribers. The issue will be released at the Independent Show and will be featured on Cable360.net for an entire year.
