CableFAX 2009 Program Awards: Best Show or Series/Talk Shows

WINNER: CHELSEA LATELY, E!

There are some fates worse than death, and one of them might be falling within Chelsea Handler’s crosshairs. The comedienne, whose work on Oxygen’s Girls Behaving Badly was also superb and hilarious, skewers celebs and other public figures with such shameless wit that her guests often aren’t sure whether to egg her on or hold her back. Neither works, as Handler proves she’s gonna say whatever she wants — and do so with style... on her own terms... no matter what. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Trust us: This guilty pleasure is pure entertainment.

Honorable Mentions:

The Suze Orman Show, CNBC: Chelsea Handler whacks celebs, but Orman has perfected the fine art of skewering financially foolish callers who seem unable to spend less than they make. But Orman’s gift is her ability to tell it as it is — while empathizing with viewers as she gives them the tough love they need.

Idol Tonight, TV Guide Network: Kudos to TV Guide Network for recognizing early the gift that keeps on giving: American Idol. Its multiple Idol shows rock. Will we ever tire of Idol? Naw.
