ACA Reply Comments Cite Possible Price Cap LEC Advantage
In reply comments filed at the FCC, the American Cable Association (ACA) asked the commission to reject any effort by Price Cap LECs to modify “Connect America Fund” (CAF) rules “because their proposals would most likely fail to advance the program’s goal of deploying broadband networks in areas most in need.”  At the same time, the group wrote, such proposals would provide these large telcos “with excess support, which they could use in areas served by competitors.”
 
FCC Releases Sunshine Agenda
During its Feb. 20 open meeting, the FCC will address a Report and Order that outlines new technical and operational requirements for signal boosters along with a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to “substantially increase” the unlicensed spectrum available to push the growth and expansion of new Wi-Fi technology. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. at FCC HQ, and it will be streamed from the “FCC Live” Web site.
